ANZA Plus/VME is a neurocomputing coprocessor. The coprocessor utilizesa four-stage pipeline Harvard architecture, which accelerates neuralnetwork operations on workstations and SPARC-based systems.ANZA Plus/VME uses the Weitek XL chip set, with 10 MB of fullyaddressable onboard RAM. The coprocessor has a capacity of 2.5 millionprocessing elements, and can handle up to 10 million interconnections persecond (IPS) at peak rates, 6 million IPS at sustained rates in theforward mode of the backpropagation network, and 1.8 million IPS in thelearning mode of the backpropagation network. ANZA Plus/VME uses onlyone VME slot and does not require any special coding.ExploreNet software is provided standard with every ANZA Plus/VME. TheExploreNet software environment has an easy-to-use icon, point-and-clickinterface for building neural network applications. ExploreNet's modulararchitecture enables users to build custom applications from menuswithout ever writing code. ExploreNet handles inputs from files, forms,and pipes; and includes a data transformation library, 21 flexible neuralnetwork paradigms, and a wide range of output graphics capabilities.
